Gary Lee Gerber

Gary Lee Gerber 68 a resident of Brewster passed away Friday, April 14, 2017 at the Cleveland Clinic following complications from a heart transplant. He was born at Dover, Oh, the son of the late Vernon (Shorty) and Mabel Hostetler Gerber and was a 1966 graduate of Fairless High School. Gary retired in 2003 from the Norfolk and Southern Railway where he was assistant division Superintendent of Administration at Ft. Wayne, Ind. He was a member of Newcomers Chapel United Methodist Church and the Brewster Moose. He enjoyed bowling, receiving many awards; golfing; playing card with buddies at the Moose; and had been a softball/baseball umpire for 45 years. and singing in choirs and in churches was his passion. Gary is survived by one sister and brother in law, Brenda (Myron) Allen of Beach City; one niece, Jennifer (Steve) Wickham of Tanzania; great nephew and nieces, Gavin, Layla and Sadie Wickham of Tanzania. In addition to his parents he was preceded by brother Vernon Ray Gerber. A celebration of Gary’s life will be held Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in Lantzer Funeral Home, Beach City with Pastors Jon Long and Michael Bradford officiating. Interment will be made in South Lawn Cemetery, Beach City. Friends may call Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, memorials maybe made to Music Fund, Newcomers Chapel United Methodist Church,11789 Sarabaugh St. S.W.
